May 14, 1944 Vicenza bomb strike

On May 14, 1944, 365 B24 Liberator bombed a wide area of the Veneto.
Vicenza had been already a target of the Americans, but that day this city had the greatest losses and the worst destructions.
My grandmother was from Asiago, for a certain period of time she also lived in Vicenza; in the 1940s, however, she already lived in Milan. I do not know how she got in possession of about 250 original prints of the period depicting one of the most industrialized cities of Italy after the passage of USAAF flocks.
Today, I keep these documents that could be interesting also to better tell the story of Vicenza. I do not know if there are other copies of these photos, or if they are part of a single lot, I am still willing to be contacted by anyone interested in exploring this topic.
My intention is to get back on the places indicated by these photographs to make new shots that after more than 70 years to show how the area has changed and what architectural heritage have been lost forever.
I have always been interested in the changes caused by the passage of time and to be interpreted in a current of the places where we live.

Ti ringrazio, Walter.
